Diogo Jota, affectionately known as “our lad from Portugal,” joined Liverpool in 2020 and quickly became a fan favourite. With 65 goals and 26 assists in 182 appearances, he played a pivotal role in securing Liverpool's 20th league title, among other honours. Beyond his on-field prowess, Jota was celebrated for his humility, work ethic, and deep connection with supporters. His untimely death, alongside his brother André Silva, in a car accident on July 3, 2025, left the football world in mourning. In a historic move, Liverpool FC retired his number 20 shirt across all teams, ensuring his legacy endures forever.
